The SAP COE Master Data MDG Techno-Functional Expert acts as the domain solution authority for SAP MDG, translating enterprise data governance and business requirements into scalable, compliant, and technically robust MDG solutions.
The role operates below the MDG Techno-Functional Lead (enterprise architecture authority) and above the Senior Professional (execution level), ensuring solution integrity, design compliance, and high-quality delivery across MDG domains.
The Expert is accountable for domain-level solution design, configuration governance, technical quality assurance, and mentoring of junior team members while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and Domain Lead requirements.
Goal of function:
Design, deliver, and sustain SAP MDG solutions that enforce data governance, improve master data quality, and ensure compliant, harmonized data across SAP and integrated non‑SAP landscapes. The role bridges business governance requirements (Domain Leads) and enterprise MDG architecture (Techno-Functional Lead) into implementable and scalable solution designs.
1) Main tasks:
Provide Application Maintenance (L2/L3) and Development (enhancement) support for SAP MDG processes. Configure/customize MDG data models, workflows, and business rules for key domains (Material, Vendor, Customer, Finance). Gather and refine business requirements; translate into robust MDG designs and configurations. Build and maintain BRF+ rules, BADIs, and ABAP enhancements (validations, derivations) in MDG. Ensure data governance policies/standards are enforced across SAP systems; document configurations and governance frameworks for audit/compliance. Lead/support integration of MDG with SAP and non‑SAP systems; collaborate with integration/BASIS teams. Ensure documentation of functional/technical specifications and validation documentation (GxP/SOX/ITGC readiness). Mentor and guide Senior Professionals in configuration standards and solution design.
