This position is an integral part of the manufacturing operation and interacts with all other departments within the company to ensure the cleanliness of the Yadkinville facility, including all processing equipment, overhead areas, production floor, employee facilities, storage facilities, and outside grounds, to meet or exceed pertinent regulatory standards.
- Oversee execution of the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and ensure timely completion.
- Supervise, train, and coach sanitation employees to meet food safety and regulatory standards.
- Conduct pre-operational and post-operational inspections for equipment and facility sanitation.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and handling of cleaning chemicals and maintain SDS documentation.
- Enforce compliance with FDA, GMPs, HACCP, FSMA, and company food safety policies.
- Collaborate with QA and Operations to resolve sanitation deviations and document corrective actions.
- Support internal and external audits with sanitation deviations and document corrective actions.
- Support the environmental programs including ATP swabs, allergen verification, and micro testing.
- Plan sanitation labor according to production schedules and sanitation windows.
- Update sanitation SSOPs, work instructions, and cleaning validation documentation.
- Oversee disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of equipment and verify readiness before startup.
- Lead safety training and enforce PPE and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Identify opportunities for sanitation efficiency, chemical optimization, and hygiene improvements.
- Maintain sanitation inventory including chemicals, tools, and supplies.
- Investigate sanitation-related incidents and implement preventive measures.
- Review, verify, and maintain sanitation documentation and chemical usage logs.
- Provide daily sanitation updates to leadership and escalate food safety risks as needed.
- Maintain other programs within the FSQA department including pest control, food defense, utility management, etc. as needed.

Experience, Skills, Education:
- Associate’s Degree Preferred
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of manufacturing sanitation experience
- Knowledge of chemical use and handling
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Skills
- Responsible for managing the department budget, overseeing assets, and monitoring labor costs to maintain efficient operations.
- A high-level understanding of interpersonal skills to productively deal with business contacts and team members at all levels of the company.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of sanitation chemical safety, food safety regulations (FDA/USDA/SQF/BRC), and HACCP.
- Ability to operate forklift and aerial lifts.
- Manages a single function without supervisory responsibility and has budget responsibility.
