Sanctions Compliance Specialist

As a Sanctions Compliance Specialist you’ll play a critical role in supporting and strengthening Nasdaq’s global sanctions and trade controls compliance program, helping the business identify, assess, and manage sanctions-related risks.

You’ll thrive in this position if you’re diligent, analytical, and confident exercising judgment, with a global perspective and a passion for compliance and regulatory integrity in a fast-paced, cross-border environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and resolve sanctions screening alerts for new and existing clients, applying judgment to distinguish true matches from false positives.
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret global sanctions developments (U.S. OFAC, EU, UK, and other major regimes) and assess business impact.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, including documentation, tracking logs, and related communications.
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of sanctions screening rules, methodologies, policies, and procedures.
  • Contribute to sanctions training, risk assessments, control testing, and remediation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in law, international relations, finance, compliance, or a related field.
  • Shown professional experience in sanctions compliance, financial crime compliance, legal, or regulatory roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. OFAC sanctions and familiarity with EU and other global sanctions regimes.
  • Experience reviewing sanctions screening alerts and conducting investigations using screening or case management tools.
  • Clear communicator with strong written and verbal English skills and the ability to explain complex topics to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services, FiaTech, multinational corporations, or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with sanctions risk assessments, regulatory guidance, and enforcement expectations.
  • A degree or equivalent experience or relevant compliance certification.

This position will be located in Vilnius and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.

The base pay range for this role is 3450 to 3625 EUR gross monthly. Actual pay depends on your skills, experience, education, and location.
