As a Full-Time Group Leader based in our Orange, CA Laboratory, you’ll play a key role in owning daily operations and setting the pace for safety, quality, and continuous improvement while coaching your team to perform at their best. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the Sample Control group, ensuring efficient and accurate handling of all sample management activities.
The compensation range for this role is $70K to $90K, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.
Department: Sample Receiving, including PUSH team
To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable being decisive and hands-on, you'll turn pressure into progress by driving accountability, building capability, and keeping work moving with focus. You'll be taking ownership of the following responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Lead the Sample Control group, reporting directly to the Technical Director.
Supervise and manage personnel, including time management, operational efficiency, hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions.
Foster a collaborative and productive team environment, addressing conflict resolution and promoting personnel skills development and team building.
Sample Management:
Oversee the entire sample management process, including receiving, logging into the LIMS system, subsampling, subcontracting and distribution, storage, and disposal.
Maintain organized records of sample control and address any non-conformance issues
Implement sample control procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy of analyses.
Sample Container Orders:
Oversee the entire sample container order process, make sure all the bottle orders and deliveries are completed accurately and on time.
Communication and Coordination:
Maintain clear and timely communication with Laboratories, Project Managers, Sales, Field Teams, and Service Centers to understand upcoming projects and changes.
Ensure accurate and timely communication with internal and external clients.
Schedule projects and coordinate with relevant teams to ensure smooth operations.
Operational Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot issues as they arise and liaise with manager to help solve problems.
Review and update related SOPs.
Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for Sample Control.
Ensure the work and warehouse area are kept neat and safe.
Comply with and ensure that Company's Quality Assurance Program, Hazardous and Waste Program, Safety policies, and ensure staff compliance with Health and Safety Plan.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum of 5 years of experience working in an Environmental lab sample receiving area
Previous experience leading and overseeing teams is preferred
Familiarity with test codes, associated sample containers/preservatives, sample volume, and holding times.
Proven ability to organize, communicate, and facilitate priorities and communicate with staff effectively.
Ability to handle non-routine projects, large sample volumes, and maintain an effective workflow (including managing working hours, supplies needs, and emergency requests).
Proficient with LIMS sample control applications and familiar with Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
