Role Summary

As a Salesforce Marketing Technology Lead – Software Engineering, you will serve as the hands‑on technical leader for Guardian’s marketing engagement platforms within the Digital & Technology organization. You will guide engineers in designing and delivering secure, scalable, and high‑performing marketing solutions built on the Salesforce ecosystem, with a strong focus on personalized, multi‑channel customer engagement.

Working closely with Marketing, Digital Engagement, Product Managers, and Enterprise Technology teams, you will translate business outcomes into technical execution, ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and governance standards, and foster a culture of engineering excellence across marketing technology platforms.

You Will

  • Lead the design, development, and technical delivery of Salesforce Marketing Cloud solutions across one or more agile squads.
  • Act as the hands‑on technology lead for marketing automation, digital engagement, and customer journey orchestration.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Digital, and Product teams to translate business goals into scalable and compliant technical solutions.
  • Define and enforce engineering standards, best practices, test automation strategies, and operational support models for marketing platforms.
  • Design and implement end‑to‑end customer journeys using Salesforce Marketing Cloud capabilities such as Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, and CloudPages.
  • Drive integration between Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce CRM, Data Cloud, and enterprise systems using APIs, middleware, and SFTP‑based patterns.
  • Ensure adherence to email deliverability, sender reputation, and compliance best practices, especially for regulated industries such as insurance.
  • Collaborate with Data, AI, Architecture, Security, and QA teams to ensure technical alignment and platform scalability.
  • Conduct solution design and code reviews to ensure quality, security, performance, and maintainability.
  • Mentor engineers and offshore development teams, fostering technical depth and platform expertise.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement long‑term, sustainable solutions.
  • Drive adoption of SDLC best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud‑native patterns for marketing technology platforms.
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, platform modernization, and innovation initiatives including AI‑driven personalization.
  • Write and deploy code, configuration, or platform assets to support marketing product teams.

You Have

  • 9–10 years of overall software engineering experience, including experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 5–6 years of deep, hands‑on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of end‑to‑end marketing technology ecosystems, including data ingestion, segmentation, activation, analytics, and engagement monitoring.
  • Experience delivering marketing technology solutions within insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and improve team performance in agile delivery models.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across business, product, and technology teams.

Technical Expertise

Strong hands‑on expertise in:

  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC)
  • Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio
  • AMPscript and dynamic personalization
  • Triggered Sends and transactional messaging APIs
  • CloudPages / Landing Pages
  • Salesforce CRM integration and campaign automation
  • Email deliverability, sender authentication, and engagement monitoring

Experience with:

  • Salesforce Data Cloud (Data 360)
  • Salesforce Einstein and AI‑driven marketing capabilities
  • Agentforce or similar AI productivity tools
  • API‑based integrations, middleware platforms, and SFTP data transfers
  • Multi‑channel engagement (email, SMS, web personalization)

Location:

  • Three days a week at a Guardian location in Holmdel, NJ, New York, NY or Bethlehem, PA.

Salary Range:

$118,980.00 - $195,465.00

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
