Your Role in Our Story:
In essence, your role involves:
- Expanding ACT’s revenue and market presence by developing and managing your own portfolio of corporate and institutional clients.
- Building and growing your portfolio: creating target lists, converting prospects into active accounts, and increasing share-of-wallet with existing clients.
- Running discovery calls and meetings to understand client obligations and voluntary goals, and proposing environmental commodity solutions that fit their needs.
- Quoting, negotiating, and executing spot and forward trades within your delegated authorities, delivering both margin and client value.
- Structuring standard to moderately complex solutions by combining products, volumes, and tenors to match client timing and procurement constraints, involving senior colleagues where needed.
- Preparing prices and term sheets, and promptly confirming and recapping deals to clients and internal teams to ensure accuracy and smooth processing.
- Maintaining clean and complete records in CRM and trading systems so that activity is auditable and handovers to Operations and Back Office are seamless.
- Working closely with Compliance, Risk, Legal, and Operations on KYC/AML, onboarding, confirmations, and settlements to mitigate operational and regulatory risk.
- Tracking and reporting your activity, pipeline, conversion, and margin performance, and proposing next actions in desk meetings.
- Represent the company at industry conferences (as both attendee and speaker) and travel regularly to meet with clients and build relationships.
Your Expertise:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:
- Post-secondary education or proven equivalent commercial aptitude; a Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, international relations, environmental studies, or a related field is a strong plus.
- Demonstrable success in outbound prospecting and managing a small client book, ideally in a commercial or trading environment.
- Typically 3–5 years of experience in sales, brokerage, trading, or other client-facing roles; experience in energy or environmental markets is a strong advantage.
- Proven ability to balance new business development with portfolio growth, from first contact to repeat transactions.
- Strong commercial instincts and persuasive communication skills, able to build trust, negotiate, and deepen long-term client relationships.
- Resilient and disciplined approach to prospecting, comfortable with high-volume outreach and working towards clear revenue and activity targets.
- High numerical accuracy and attention to detail in pricing, deal structuring, and trade recaps.
- Structured way of working, to manage pipeline, track performance, and inform next steps.
- Sound judgement and ethical conduct, applying ACT’s playbooks, pricing guidelines, and risk frameworks while tailoring the message to each client.
- Confident user of office productivity tools, CRM systems, and basic data analysis; eager to master ACT’s systems and controls.
