Company:
Mercer
Description:
We are seeking a talented individual to join our Wealth team at Mercer. This role will be based in Hong Kong. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
An exciting opportunity to join Mercer’s rapidly growing global Investments business, which has seen phenomenal growth over recent years and is now the world’s largest provider of OCIO (Outsourced Chief Investment Officer) services, with over US $691 billion in global assets under management and US $17.5 trillion in global assets under advisement. You will have direct day-to-day exposure to a wide range of senior leaders and investment decision-makers across our Investment, Client, Sales, and Operations teams.
As part of our Business Development Unit, you will be at the heart of the action: supporting our sales leaders with large new-business opportunities across pension, not-for-profit, insurance, or wealth-management client types. In this central team, you will enhance your knowledge and understanding of a wide range of investment topics, such as strategy-setting, private markets investing, ESG investing, capital markets, and more.
You will also hone your skills in project management, communication of key messages in a concise way, and management of different personality types both internally and externally. This diversity of skills, knowledge, and experience will open up a variety of long-term career paths both within business development and wider functions. We are a high-performing business with an extremely strong culture of inclusivity, diversity, and teamwork. We also provide generous study-support packages (e.g., CFA) and are passionate about both career development and work-life balance.
We will count on you to:
- Develop in-depth knowledge of Mercer’s investment research and client solutions in order to explain and communicate to colleagues and prospective clients.
- Work closely with Asia sales and commercial leadership on all aspects of sales and business development activities, and demonstrate ownership of key sales deliverables, including new business proposals, pitch material, and any areas of specialist expertise that you may be assigned to.
- Support and influence other Asia business development initiatives, such as the roll-out of new tools, product launches, marketing initiatives, go-to-market strategy, market research, and intelligence. This will involve collaborating with worldwide Mercer colleagues across our wider investment, operational, client, and consulting teams.
- Support, guide, and coach more junior colleagues, and contribute to the continuous development of the team.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor Degree with a strong academic track record, a strong interest in capital markets, and relevant experience in the investment industry (CFA and actuarial backgrounds welcome).
- Energy, proactivity, and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and deliverables simultaneously.
- Proven team player characteristics and interpersonal skills.
- Strong IT skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word) with the ability to embrace other tools.
What makes you stand out:
- Experience in business development and preparing business proposals for presentation.
- Understanding of the institutional investment landscape and structures.
- Experience with private-markets asset classes such as private equity/private debt would be particularly relevant.
- Creative thinking with high standards of output and the ability to generate concise written materials.
- The ability to communicate complex issues in a simple and coherent manner.
Why join our team:
We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can work with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
Our scale enables us to provide a range of career opportunities, as well as benefits and rewards to enhance your well-being.
