Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000 based on experience

Job Summary:

Courtyard New York Times Square West is seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Manager to develop and manage Tour & Travel and leisure travel accounts. This role is responsible for driving group room nights, enhancing market penetration, and building strong relationships with tour operators, travel agents, and destination management companies (DMCs).

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the New York City tour and travel market, proven negotiation skills, and a passion for hospitality sales.

 

Essential Functions and Duties: 

  • Develop, solicit, and manage tour & travel and leisure group accounts to maximize room revenue and market share

  • Proactively prospect new tour operators, travel agencies, and wholesalers with a focus on domestic and international markets

  • Negotiate group contracts and series business in alignment with property pricing strategies

  • Maintain strong, ongoing relationships with existing accounts through regular sales calls, site inspections, tradeshows, and client entertainment

  • Collaborate with Revenue Management and Operations teams to ensure accurate forecasting and optimal inventory utilization

  • Prepare and manage account production reports, pace reports, and market segmentation analysis

  • Participate in travel industry events, familiarization tours (FAMs), and sales calls as needed

  • Ensure timely and accurate use of CRM systems (e.g., Delphi/CI, Salesforce, or similar)

  • Represent the hotel in a professional manner consistent with brand standards and service culture

  • Prepare and present sales call reports, internal sales reports, and other documentation as required.

Required Experience, Education, and Skills: 

  • Minimum 2–3 years of hotel sales experience, preferably in tour & travel or leisure segments

  • Strong knowledge of the New York City tour and travel market

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills

  • Ability to build long-term relationships and close business effectively

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through

  • Strong understanding of sales principles and strategies for generating new business. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building client relationships and interacting with internal teams. 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems for reporting and tracking sales performance. 

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage time effectively. 

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Marriott systems and brand standards

  • Existing relationships with tour operators or international travel partners

  • Experience handling series business and high-volume tour accounts

Work Environment: 

  • Primarily indoor office work, with occasional travel for sales calls and events. 

  • Frequent interaction with clients, team members, and local organizations, requiring flexibility in communication and scheduling.
