About the Team

This role would be part of a 50+ person sales team responsible for the commercial growth of GSMA Limited. The team sells across the flagship events; MWC Barcelona, Shanghai, Kigali, Las Vegas as well as our M360 series and 4YFN events, Media, Intelligence and Industry Services platforms. We are truly global team with sales reps in Europe, Asia, China and the Americas with a collaborative, supportive and vibrant atmosphere.

This specific role will lead the revenue growth of MWC Doha, with both direct and indirect reports.

About the Role

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Specifically tasked with managing and growing revenues for MWC Doha through sponsorship, exhibit, hospitality, digtal and venue advertising sales.

  • Managing and motivating a team of both direct and indirect reports of varying experience and skill sets across multiple time zones, both remote and in person.

  • Setting Event and Sales Team Targets and inputting into the overall event Business Plan, creating the sales strategy that will achieve our ambitions.

  • Working with the operations, marketing and content teams to develop the event inventory and lead gen campaiogns that will ensure the commercial success of the event.

  • Provide regular updates, team sales performance and revenue forecasting and reports to the VP Of Sales.

  • Managing a selection of key, strategic clients – selling directly to them, building strong business relationships, ensuring the event meets their requirements and we maintain a high level of client satisfaction.

  • Identifying new business targets and working to establish close relationship that will ultimately win the event new business.

  • Liaise with other Sales Directors to exploit cross sale opportunities that arise, evangelise the full suite of GSMA products in a detailed and consultative approach.

About You

  • You will have a passion for events, excel in sales, and be a leader who is able to collaborate across departments.

  • Preferably with a background in digital transformation and connectivity markets.

  • You will have worked in the MENA region and have established local contacts.

  • You are used to delivering a high quality service, hitting and exceeding sales targets, and fostering excellent relationships both internal and external. 

  • This is a wide reaching role touching every department at the GSMA including the Leadership Team - with that comes exposure, responsibility and pressure to deliver so you need to be a self-starter with an excellent sales track record. 

  • This role requires travel so you need to see that as an opportunity and relish the global nature of the role.
