Major Duties:

  • You will perform all functions necessary to manage and execute a comprehensive safety program in direct support of HRT.
  • You will address issues involved with high-risk training, hazardous training evolutions, and industrial functions related to operations of Navy Special Operations.
  • You will plan, schedule, and conduct on-site HRT risk management assessment and technical assistance visits.
  • You will develop instructions and procedures to establish technical and administrative HRT safety program requirements.
  • You will review findings during external inspections, evaluations, and surveys; initiates program improvements based on findings.
  • You will conduct formal inspections of non-NSWG-1 owned HRT platforms and indoor/outdoor tactical range complexes to determine compliance with Navy and USSOCOM standards.
  • You will serve as the command's Subject Matter Expert (SME) on high-risk safety, advising leadership and providing guidance to safety personnel stationed within NSWG-1.
  • You will provide subject matter advice during mishap investigations, prepare formal reports, track corrective actions, and compile statistical data.
  • You will represent the command at Joint and service-level conferences and meetings to develop and standardize safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying advanced risk management principles and demonstrating knowledge of Naval Special Warfare (NSW) and Special Operations Forces (SOF) tactics, techniques and procedures; supporting and partaking in high-risk training evolutions (e.g., military free-fall, diving, demolitions and tactical ground mobility); and applying DoD, Navy, and USSOCOM safety regulations to analyze problems, develop policies and provide safety recommendations in dynamic environments.
