Compensation Rate: $15.00/hr
What you get to do:
As a Senior Safety Specialist, you will
- Assist with developing, maintaining, and instructing EHS related training courses for ambassadors at Busch Gardens and Adventure Island.
- Participate in EHS inspections focusing on compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
- Conduct inspections of work areas and ambassadors for compliance, audit vehicles and equipment for inspections, review training records, and chemical inventories and proper storage.
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly regulatory inspections of the hazardous waste facility, collection sites, UST/AST, oil/grease containers, generators and any other potential pollution source
- Complete regulatory monthly sampling and reporting
- Collect environmental data and enter into excel or other computer software
- Must be able conduct all EHS classroom training sessions in compliance with OSHA standards and local, state, and federal environmental standards
- Develop training calendar
- Assist with the development of EHS projects.
- Participate in EHS inspections throughout the park to ensure that all departments are in compliance with company, local, state and federal environmental regulations.
- Develop corrective action plans and ensures completion
- Attend department meetings and general EHS sensitive meetings
- Conduct work required to maintain the hazardous waste facility and satellite accumulation sites
- Provide exceptional, professional guest service in a team environment.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with Ambassadors, Vendors, and our Guests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What it takes to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Risk Management or a related field preferred
- 2 years of experience in EHS or a related field preferred
- Must be certified as a CPR/First Aid/AED trainer or willing to become certified.
- Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License
- Competent person certifications preferred
- Theme park experience preferred
- Ability to meet company driving guidelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
What else is important:
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed
- Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-tooverhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing)
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat.
- Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors, and cold/heat temperature extremes
- Perform cleaning duties, including use of cleaning chemicals
- Work a flexible schedule/hour based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be flexible in work locations as placement will depend on business needs and career development opportunities
