Shimizu North America is seeking a Safety Manager to lead safety operations on a large-scale industrial construction project at a manufacturing facility in Guntersville, Alabama. This senior-level position is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, implementing company safety programs, and fostering a proactive safety culture among project personnel. The ideal candidate has deep experience managing safety on industrial construction projects, demonstrates strong leadership skills, and is adept at training, auditing, and ensuring jobsite compliance. Responsibilities:
- Safety Compliance & Enforcement – Ensure strict adherence to OSHA standards, company policies, and project-specific safety requirements; identify, report, and correct hazards proactively.
- Employee Training & Orientation – Develop and deliver site-specific safety orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing training programs for all employees and subcontractors.
- Audits & Inspections – Conduct regular jobsite safety audits, inspections, and assessments to identify risks, verify corrective actions, and maintain compliance documentation.
- Incident Investigation & Reporting – Lead thorough investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and violations; prepare detailed reports and corrective action plans.
- Drug Screening Management – Oversee employee and subcontractor drug screening protocols, ensuring timely coordination and compliance with project and client requirements.
- Collaboration & Leadership – Partner with the Project Manager, field supervisors, and subcontractors to drive safety accountability and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Documentation & Reporting – Maintain accurate safety records, prepare weekly and monthly safety reports, and provide updates to project leadership and client representatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in construction safety management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role on large industrial projects.
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) preferred.
- Additional credentials such as CHST, ASP, or OSHA 500/510 certification are advantageous.
- Expertise in OSHA regulations, industrial construction safety practices, and incident response procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of safety management systems, audits, and reporting tools such as Procore.
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities, with proven success in training and influencing diverse teams.
