GEA

Safety Engineer/Specialist – shape Machinery & Pressure Safety at GEA

Soeborg Full time
Do you want to ensure safety in technologies used by millions worldwide – and take the lead in risk assessments for complex machinery and process plants?

In this role, you will be the key link between regulations and real-life engineering. You will make sure our designs comply with the latest Machinery Regulation and Pressure Equipment Directive, support colleagues with safety expertise, and drive risk assessments that set the standard for safe and reliable process plants.

In Søborg, you’ll be a part of the Safety Technology team that ensures complex regulations are translated into practical engineering solutions – work that impacts both our colleagues and customers across the globe. We share knowledge, support each other, and play a vital role in shaping safer processes for industries worldwide.

Responsibilities / Tasks

In this role, you ensure that safety is embedded in our designs and solutions. Your work spans from guiding engineers and reviewing technical files to turning complex directives into clear guidelines. Some days you dive into standards; other days you facilitate risk assessments that bring perspectives together.

You are the go-to person for Machinery Regulation, Pressure Equipment Directive, and risk assessments – and your expertise helps shape solutions that are both safe and compliant. While most of your work is in Søborg, a few travel days may occur for special projects.

You will for example:

  • guide engineers to ensure that designs comply with Machinery and Pressure regulations
  • facilitate and document risk assessment activities
  • review technical files and secure compliance with directives and standards
  • keep internal guidelines updated in line with regulatory change
  • act as a trusted advisor across projects and disciplines

We are open to both experienced engineers/specialists and newly graduated talents. What matters most is that you share a genuine interest in safety and compliance, communicate clearly, and thrive in a role where some days are about diving into details, while others are about guiding colleagues and facilitating discussions.

Your Profile / Qualifications

If you are an experienced profile, you bring …
… several years of hands-on work with Machinery Regulation and the Pressure Equipment Directive. You know EN/ISO 12100, have conducted risk assessments for machinery and pressurized equipment, and are confident when presenting or facilitating knowledge across teams.

Qualification requirements:

  • Solid understanding of safety standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, EN, CE marking)
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments and implementing safety measures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders

Additional Requirements for Safety Specialist

  • Minimum 5+ years of specific experience in machinery safety, including:
  • Practical compliance work with relevant standards and directives
  • Hands-on risk assessment and mitigation for machinery in operational environments
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements in complex scenarios
  • Knowledge of the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) is preferred
  • Demonstrated capability to lead or advise on advanced safety compliance projects

Furthermore, we imagine that you have:

  • strong communication and presentation skills
  • facilitation and training experience
  • fluency in English; Danish is an advantage

If you are a newly graduated engineer, you bring …
… a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and are eager to grow into the role. You are structured, motivated to spend time on standards, and ready to take on both complex and routine tasks as part of your learning journey.
