About the role

To support the safe, compliant, and effective operation of the Guinness Storehouse, ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of guests, employees, contractors, and partners. The role plays a key part in embedding a strong safety culture aligned to Diageo values, while maintaining full compliance with legal, regulatory, and company standards in a high-volume visitor environment.

Reporting into the Safety & Compliance Manager, the role extends beyond core compliance requirements and acts as a key stakeholder in supporting the delivery of Diageo’s Spirit of Progress and sustainability commitments, requiring a senior level of accountability, engagement, and strategic influence.

Role Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance Operations

  • Conduct daily and routine safety inspections across all areas of the Guinness Storehouse.
  • Monitor operations to ensure compliance with procedures, SOPs, and risk assessments.
  • Identify hazards and drive corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Irish health & safety, fire safety, food safety, and environmental legislation.

Incident, Risk & Systems Management

  • Lead and support accident, incident, and near-miss investigations and ensure robust follow-up.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the Health & Safety Management System, including the new integrated safety platform.
  • Track, trend, and close out safety observations, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Support development and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work.

Emergency Preparedness & Response

  • Support the Site Emergency Response Plan and site-wide emergency readiness.
  • Coordinate and participate in fire drills and evacuation exercises.
  • Act as a key liaison with emergency services and internal stakeholders when required.

Training, Engagement & Safety Culture

  • Deliver Health & Safety inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher training.
  • Champion Diageo safety culture initiatives and behavioural safety standards.
  • Work closely with L&D and operational leaders to ensure compliance-related training is delivered and tracked.

Events, Visitor & Contractor Safety

  • Review safety documentation and risk assessments for events, activations, and contractors.
  • Provide event-day safety oversight and support crowd management in peak operational periods.
  • Reporting, Audit & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain safety documentation, policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Compile weekly, monthly, and quarterly safety, compliance, and sustainability reports.
  • Support internal and external audits and actively contribute to Safety & Sustainability forums.

Experience / skills required

  • Significant experience in safety, compliance, hospitality, events, or high-footfall operational environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Proven ability to manage systems, data, and reporting in complex operational settings.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • High level of initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously.
  • Third-level qualification in Environmental Health & Safety or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting sustainability or environmental initiatives desirable.
