WHAT YOU WILL DO:
We are enhancing the scope of the Infrastructure Technician role to include responsibilities as a Safety Champion. In this hybrid role, you will continue your core functions in infrastructure operations, including system deployment, administration, support, and maintenance, while also taking on a leadership role in health, safety, and environmental (EH&S) practices across our facilities and project sites.
This expanded role is ideal for a highly motivated technician looking to broaden their impact by combining hands-on technical expertise with leadership in safety practices. You will be essential in keeping both our systems and people safe, helping drive operational efficiency and a culture of safety across the organization.
This role will be split approximately 60% Infrastructure duties and 40% Safety Champion responsibilities, aligning technical reliability with operational safety excellence.
Since this role will be in addition to your regular responsibilities, there is the potential for a pay increase. (expectations between 1% and 5% of your current wage.)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core Responsibilities (60%) – Infrastructure Technician (Net/Run Ops/Deployment)-
- Perform hands-on hardware and system deployment, Repair, Run Ops, and Deployment
- Troubleshoot network and infrastructure issues across production and field environments.
- Collaborate with IT, operations, and engineering teams to support infrastructure projects and upgrades.
- Ensure documentation is up to date for hardware assets, procedures, and deployment configurations.
- Support equipment moves, cable management, racking/stacking, and installation of new systems.
- Maintain availability and performance of infrastructure in support of operational uptime targets.
- Respond to user requests and incidents related to infrastructure, escalating as necessary.
Added Responsibilities (40%) – Safety Champion
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of infrastructure areas, tools, and equipment.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with OSHA, local, and company-specific safety standards and policies.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and delivering safety protocols, SOPs, and training for infrastructure activities.
- Participate in incident response, investigations, root cause analysis, and tracking of corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records related to safety activities, including inspections, reports, and training logs.
- Engage in risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs), particularly for technical fieldwork or deployments.
- Ensure proper PPE usage and maintenance in technical and operational zones.
- Act as a liaison with EH&S teams to ensure safety is embedded in infrastructure projects.
- Foster a strong safety culture within the infrastructure and operations team through awareness and coaching.
Teamwork & Cross-Functional Engagement:
- Attend internal safety briefings, HSE workshops, and technical team meetings.
- Collaborate with safety, operations, and engineering teams to align on safe work practices.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for safety and infrastructure process improvements.
- Temporarily act on behalf of the Safety Lead during absences as needed.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Associate degree or technical certification in IT, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in IT infrastructure support roles (hardware, networking, system admin).
- Experience with or knowledge of OSHA 10, safety inspections, and hazard identification.
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, HAZWOPER.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lift up to 50 lbs .
- Ability to work in varying environments (data rooms, work zones, field sites).
- Visual acuity and hearing necessary for hazard detection and technical troubleshooting.
- Must be able to walk, climb, crouch, kneel, and stand for extended periods during inspections and deployments.
