Job Summary

The Safety and Risk Management Specialist supports and facilitates sustainment of the system wide patient safety program through facilitation and participation in patient safety activities. The Safety and Risk Management Specialist conducts daily operations of the patient and visitor event reporting system.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Functions as a resource/consultant to leadership, medical staff, and caregivers regarding patient safety and risk prevention.
  • Conducts patient safety rounds in collaboration with Manager of Quality, Safety, and Risk Management and operational department leadership.
  • Informs appropriate leadership of major occurrences, issues, and events and coordinates risk mitigation activities.
  • As assigned, investigates incidents, events, and accidents that are potentially compensable or that could result in a claim. Complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA), plans of correction, and monitoring of improvement.
  • Reviews and completes appropriate and timely follow up of patient and visitor events.
  • Leads the ongoing functionality development of the patient and visitor event reporting system.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:
Bachelor’s degree in a clinical field or equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered to satisfy this requirement (examples of related field would be Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist).
Certification - appropriate state licensure based on clinical field


Preferred:

Experience - 1+ years of Audit/Compliance Experience; 1+ years of Quality Assurance/Improvement Experience; 3+ years of Clinical Experience
