GAF is seeking a SAC Lead Data Engineer to join our IT team, serving as the primary technical authority for our SAP Analytics Cloud environment. In this role, you will be responsible for eliciting complex business needs from FP&A and Group Consolidation stakeholders and translating them into a robust, sustainable technical architecture. Your core responsibilities include designing end-to-end planning models, configuring secure data integration via SAP Cloud Connector and SAML 2.0 SSO, and engineering sophisticated logic through JavaScript scripting and Advanced Formulas (Data Actions) for financial allocations. You will lead the technical lifecycle of the solution—from detailed data wrangling and Import Job orchestration to the implementation of Row-Level Security (DAC) and Role-Based Access Control—ensuring that GAF's consolidation functions are supported by a high-performance, secure, and perfectly documented analytics ecosystem.
Essential Duties
SAC Advanced Data Modeling & Prep: Architect and maintain complex Analytical and Planning models; perform technical Data Wrangling, mapping, and transformation for seamless integration of diverse data sources.
Planning & Input Management: Design and deploy high-performance Input Forms for business users, utilizing Data Locking, Planning Calendars, and Private/Public Version management to control the budgeting lifecycle.
Calculations & Advanced Formulas: Engineer sophisticated KPIs using Calculated Measures and create complex, script-based Data Actions (Advanced Formulas) to automate allocations, currency translations, and inter-company eliminations.
Custom Scripting & Application Design: Develop highly interactive, custom-coded applications within the SAC Analytics Designer using JavaScript for event-based logic and dynamic user experiences.
Data Integration & Connection Admin: Establish and monitor technical connections (Live and Import) via SAP Cloud Connector and CORS; manage the scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting of recurring Data Import Jobs.
Security & Data Governance: Implement robust security frameworks using SAML 2.0 SSO, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and Data Access Control (DAC) to ensure row-level security and regulatory compliance.
Story & Dashboard Architecture: Build executive-level Stories and Dashboards using Optimized View Mode, ensuring consistent UI/UX through corporate theming and advanced visualization components.
System Optimization & DevOps: Monitor system health using Performance Traces and Audit Logs; lead the technical "promotion" of content from Dev to Production via the Content Network.
Solve complex business problems utilizing business process redesign and cloud computing technologies.
Develop new standard operating procedures documentation aligned with business requirements.
Develop and maintain efficient Finance, P&L, balance sheet, and workforce planning models along with reporting to support GAF’s business planning process
Prepare and present findings, recommendations, new operating models, and new workflows in consultation with the business team.
Create methodology to measure process performance against established metrics
Responsible for completing assignments with the ability to work on 1-3 projects
Translate business needs into documented artifacts. Collaborate with business users to analyze processes and systems, identifying and defining beneficial system changes to enhance efficiency and performance.
Develop and execute testing scenarios and plans, supporting teams through the testing phase.
Partner with project teams and business users during planning, delivery reviews, and UAT to confirm software meets requirements.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Finance, Information Systems, or related majors required
8+ years of IT experience; preferably in a manufacturing organization.
3+ year experience with FP&A /Group Consolidation domain experience
2+ year experience with SAP Analytical Cloud for Planning
2+ SAC architecture experience
2+ SAC reporting experience
Qualifications Preferred
Experience with implementation and transformation projects using cube technology, such as SAC Planning, Anaplan, Hyperion, OneStream, etc.
Experience with the Finance process in SAP.
Strong implementation and support experience with SAC Planning and data integration needs from SAP and other sources.
Design and develop integrated business solutions that interact between multiple enterprise platforms and applications, both on-premises, CSP’s and SaaS providers.
General knowledge of Agile and SDLC software development practices and technical documentation (requirements, functional specifications, test plans, etc.)
Strong strategic business acumen and understanding of organizational strategy and the ability to design IT systems to deliver that strategy.
Strong ability to define multiple solution options to business problems.
Excellent conceptual and analytical abilities.
Proficient verbal and written communication.
Adept at managing multiple concurrent projects.
Capable of balancing both long-term ("big picture") and short-term situational perspectives.
