Munich Full Time

About Us

At arculus, we design, build, and maintain cutting-edge autonomous mobile robots and the software ecosystem around them. Our Development department brings together software, infrastructure, and product experts in a collaborative, international environment, focused on delivering reliable and high-quality products that make a real difference in intralogistics.

Your Role

As a Rust Developer - Material Flow at arculus, you will turn complex operational research models into production-ready software that performs at scale. You will implement algorithms, data structures, and machine learning models in Rust, ensuring mathematical concepts are translated into reliable, scalable, and maintainable software for real-world material flow systems. You will work closely with Operational Researchers and cross-functional teams to bring advanced optimization into production.

Your Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Translate optimization algorithms and mathematical models into efficient Rust code
  • Develop high-performance data structures and abstractions
  • Write safe, concurrent code optimized for throughput, latency, and resource usage
  • Ensure systems meet performance and reliability targets
  • Build unit, integration, and benchmark tests and validate implementations with Operational Researchers
  • Identify edge cases and ensure correctness of algorithmic implementations
  • Collaborate with researchers and team members to clarify requirements
  • Document code, algorithms, and usage for maintainability
  • Support CI/CD, containerization, and observability implementation
  • Assist in prototyping new algorithms or ML inference pipelines

Your Experience

  • MSc/PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering and product development
  • Proven experience programming in high-level languages with a focus on efficient, robust, and scalable data structures and algorithms
  • Expert knowledge of solving optimization problems using suitable algorithms and data structures
  • Extensive experience working in data-driven environments with simulation and short time-to-market cycles
  • Experience implementing optimization algorithms, graph algorithms, or ML inference in production systems
  • Experience with performance profiling, benchmarking, and observability tools
  • Experience in logistics, robotics, warehouse management, or material flow systems

Who You Are

  • Strong communicator who applies effective feedback practices with empathy
  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and self-organization
  • Practices self-reflection and continuous learning to achieve goals
  • Maintains clarity in roles, responsibilities, and decision-making
  • Acts transparently and proactively proposes improvements
  • Thinks conceptually and structurally when solving complex problems

WHY ARCULUS

  • We are a diverse, global team of 100+ creative thinkers, algorithmic brains, makers, movers, and shakers.
  • Our approach comes from a continuous cycle: assemble, weld, code, test, deploy or delete, and repeat. That is how we deliver innovative solutions to tackle the biggest intralogistics challenges.
  • You will find our tech space nestled within the eastern region of Munich. It serves as a hub for our team's creativity and collaboration, featuring state-of-the-art meeting rooms, a fully-equipped electronics lab, and a spacious robotics testing area.
