JOB OVERVIEW

This role is responsible for the mixing of raw materials per batch requirements including preparation/weighing of polymeric materials and chemical fillers based on pre-defined recipes. This role is also responsible for the production of molded rubber for production in the Core Molding department including meeting weight and size specifications. This is a 3rd Shift role. You will be required to work 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recording raw material usages based on weight and lot number.
  • Staging and sequencing of ingredients for use in the mixing equipment.
  • Using a two-roll mill to post-mix rubber stock as it is discharged from the mixer.
  • Gather and blend and extrude pre-qualification samples of rubber stock for quality test and measurement.
  • Deliver slugs to proper cell for molding
  • Weighing and labeling of rubber stock prior to transfer to a conditioning room.
  • Retrieve rubber stock from the conditioning room and deliver to the designated extrusion process.
  • Retrieve slugs from the extrusion process, label the product, report production, and stage for delivery to core molding.
  • Deliver raw materials from conditioning room or storage area to compounding operators when requested.
  • Gather samples and processing them as cores to submit to the quality lab as a part of the blend pre-qualification process. 
  • Release blended batches for production extrusion.
  • Organize and stage empty totes for extrusion process.
  • Assist milling operator and extrusion operator in miscellaneous tasks where required.
  • Works towards improvements for process efficiencies
  • Work in a safe manner following all PPE and standardized processes
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Must be able to read, write and understand English

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training in field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT (if applicable)

  • The employee may be frequently expose to fumes or airborne particles
  • The employee may be exposed to confined spaces while working on machines
  • The employee is regularly required to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • The employee may be required to stand, sit, crouch, walk and bend/conform in uncomfortable positions for varying periods of time
  • Will be required to use vision including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
