Robotics Surgery Coordinator, Days
*Full time; 6:30am-3pm, Monday-Friday
*Call required
*CST and BLS (American Heart Assoc) preferred
*1-2+ years of Robotics experience preferred
*The Robotic Surgery Coordinator provides clinical and operational oversight of the robotic surgery program to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care. This role serves as the subject matter expert for robotic platforms, coordinating case workflows, staffing, equipment, and instrument availability. Responsibilities include robotic room setup, docking, troubleshooting, emergency undocking, and conversion readiness in compliance with AORN standards, manufacturer IFUs, and hospital policy. The coordinator manages robotic instrument inventory, maintenance, and utilization tracking, collaborates with Sterile Processing and vendors, supports staff and surgeon training, validates competencies, promotes standardized workflows, and leads safety, quality, and performance improvement initiatives. Scrubbing required if needed.
*This position is located at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science Degree preferred

Licenses/Certifications: Manufacturer training and certification program in robotics within one (1) year of employment

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

Principal Accountabilities

  • Must be competent to function and demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique while providing ongoing clinical education to the staff of Perioperative Services.

  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.

Nature and Scope

  • Nursing and Surgical Technology

  • Coordinates nursing and surgical technology assignments.

  • Facilitate visiting nurse and physician observation.

Performance Improvement

  • Consults with Risk Management, OR Medical Director, OR Director as appropriate for untoward events that occur in the Operating Room.

  • Consults with O.R staff to follow-up, problem solve and re-educate as appropriate.

  • Develops and institutes strategies for departmental change based on Patient Care Variance Data.

Clinical Practice

  • Identifies concerns for potential improvement in OR. staff clinical practice.

  • Develops protocols for data collection that relates clinical practice to clinical outcomes.

  • Collaborates with Performance Improvement and Infection Control Departments.

  • Develops, initiates, and facilitates strategies for improved clinical outcomes.

  • Educates staff about issues that relate to clinical outcomes.

OR Products

  • Provides input for supply purchase from an OR nursing clinical perspective.

  • Collaborates with OR nursing staff for evaluation of new products.

  • Develop strategies for OR supply cost savings.

  • Collaborate with Memorial Hermann Hospital and system-wide purchasing departments to support cost effective supply changes that maintain or enhance patient care.

Operating Room Policy and Procedure and Standards of Practice

  • Assists OR management with OR policy and procedure development and change.

  • Communicates with and educate the OR staff regarding OR. policy and procedure, CDC Guidelines, AAMI Standards and Recommended Practices, and OSHA guidelines.

  • Develops strategies to facilitate OR  staff adherence to policies and procedures and recommended standards of practice.
