Intrinsic robotics

Robotics Software Engineer, Digital Twin & Simulation

Singapore Full Time

Intrinsic is Alphabet’s bet aiming to reimagine the potential of industrial robotics. Our team believes that advances in AI, perception and simulation will redefine what’s possible for industrial robotics in the near future – with software and data at the core.

Our mission is to make industrial robotics intelligent, accessible, and usable for millions more businesses, entrepreneurs, and developers. We are a dynamic team of engineers, roboticists, designers, and technologists who are passionate about unlocking the creative and economic potential of industrial robotics.

Role

As a Robotics Software Engineer focusing on simulation performance, you will focus on optimizing digital twins and robotic processes to ensure efficient simulation that translates directly to performance improvements in the real world. You will work closely with the simulation team to improve the fidelity of assets and optimize the runtime performance of skills and services. Your work will be critical in bridging the gap between simulated and real hardware setups, helping to identify bottlenecks and develop applications that drive the factory of the future.

How your work moves the mission forward

  • Identify and document performance bottlenecks for our Factory of the Future and AI workcell simulations.
  • Optimize digital twin performance, specifically regarding 3D geometries and scene design.
  • Support and optimize services integration within the AI workcell and Factory of the Future.
  • Develop applications to evaluate the cycle time impact of changes and drive improvements to programmed processes.
  • Improve the fidelity of assets and the performance of skills on the platform to ensure better execution in both simulation and real hardware.

Skills you will need to be successful

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in software development using C++ and Python.
  • Experience with robotic simulation environments (e.g., Gazebo, MuJoCo, or Isaac Sim).
  • Proven track record of identifying performance bottlenecks and optimizing software.
  • Experience with 3D geometry processing, scene design, or game engine optimization.
  • Domain knowledge in robotics and industrial automation.

Skills that will differentiate your candidacy

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, or a similar technical field.
  • Experience creating and validating digital twins for industrial applications.
  • Experience in ROS 2 (and frameworks like BT.CPP, moveit2, ros2_controls, nav2, Open-RMF) and hands-on experience integrating the same into physical applications.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, gRPC, Protobuf, or Bazel.
  • Background in physics simulation or validating simulation results against real-world hardware.
  • Programming skills in Rust (and frameworks like Bevy).
