We are seeking a highly motivated engineer to join our Strategic Programs, Government Research and Industry Standards Team to lead the development of hardware automation equipment and controls integration efforts. Our team is responsible for defining and deploying highly complex systems of systems throughout the complete lifecycle from proof of concept to deployment, in partnership with our suppliers and internal partners and customers. This role will be responsible for systems integration pathfinding, requirements definition, test and validation, project management, and bringing systems into production environments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Drive capability requirements specification for hardware, software, and controls in collaboration with system owners, supply chain, automation teams, and suppliers.
  • Design, develop, test, and debug software applications for end users, equipment technicians, and system integrations.
  • Write functional and test code, automate build and deployment processes, and perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing of applications.
  • Perform equipment controls and software integration testing and validation to ensure functional performance meets requirements.
  • Create technical documentation and procedures for installation, maintenance, and end-user operations.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, root cause analysis, and statistical/data analysis capabilities with solid understanding of equipment and mechanical control systems.
  • Read and interpret mechanical and electrical/controls drawings and technical specifications.
  • Maintain high tolerance for ambiguity and adapt effectively in a continuously changing environment.
  • Engage in constructive conversations and work collaboratively through technical disagreements.

Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your degree and research projects and/or relevant previous job and or internship experiences. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of industry experience with a Bachelors OR Masters of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering preferred).
  • 1+ years experience in programming proficiency in Python, C/C++.
  • 1+ years experience in computer-aided design, data analytics, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • 1+ years experience in project management experience with team leadership and project report out.

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience with embedded controllers, firmware, and various operating systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of automated material handling systems, equipment knowledge and manufacturing factory experience.
  • Robotics systems (AMR, Palletizer, Humanoid) and mechanical systems understanding, design, test, validation/verification, and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced robotics knowledge including ROS/ROS2, motion planning, computer vision, sensor integration, and industrial communication protocols for autonomous systems.
  • Experience with industrial control systems (PLCs, HMIs, SCADA) and automation platforms.  
  • Knowledge of payload, interoperability, and equipment controls industry standards, such as SECS/GEM and 300mm SEMI standards for manufacturing automation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and experience collaborating internally and externally.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $94,370.00-156,540.00 USD
