Fairview Hospital provides a comprehensive range of surgical services, including cardiothoracic, vascular, urology, colorectal, orthopedics, general, bariatric, breast, and cancer-related surgeries. In addition, the hospital offers advanced minimally invasive options such as single-port and robotic surgery that promote faster recovery, reduced pain, and smaller incisions, helping patients return to their lives more quickly. As an RN in this unit, you will ensure patients are prepped, prepared and comfortable before, during and after surgical procedures. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working shifts varying between 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with occasional Saturday shifts.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.  

  • Perform scrub and circulating functions.  

  • Prepare the OR, surgical instruments, and equipment for use.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (AND or BSN program)

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

  • One year of RN experience OR completion of Cleveland Clinic’s Perioperative Residency Program

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within six months of hire

  • Perioperative experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > than 75 pounds periodically.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
