Cleveland Clinic Children’s provides specialized, comprehensive outpatient care for pediatric blood disorders and cancers, including leukemia and lymphoma. The team delivers diagnosis, treatment, infusion services, and long-term follow-up for children and young adults, often with same-day or next-day appointments available. In the role of an RN, you will care for a diverse pediatric population, delivering high-quality, life-saving treatment.

A caregiver in this position works rotating days Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Main Campus. No weekends or holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services to hospitalized patients in various healthcare settings.  
  • Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.
  • Perform telephone triage and call rotations.  
  • Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications. 
  • Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.  
  • Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.  
  • Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.  
  • Educate patients and families.  
  • Cover other nursing roles in the department.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Diploma, ADN, BSN program)  
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse  
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross  
  • One year of recent experience as an RN OR Licensed RN with at least 2 years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic procedural department may substitute for required RN experience.
  • In areas performing moderate sedation procedures must have current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Certification within 6 months of hire.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
  • Infusion experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
