Following surgery and endoscopic procedures, patients are taken to the Endoscopy Post-Anesthesia Care Unit where caregivers monitor their progress in recovering from the immediate effects of surgery and anesthesia. As an RN on this team, you will utilize your nursing experience to provide compassionate care as patients return to health. In this role, you can make a difference in the lives of patients and their families every day.

A caregiver in this position works days/evenings with flex start times from 11:00AM – 9:30PM, including on-call requirements. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care. 

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population. 

  • Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.  

  • Develop and update goals, involve patients and families in developing plans of care and serve as a patient advocate.  

  • Provide nursing care, administer treatments/medication and document 

  • Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes 

  • Contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process. 

  • Delegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.  

  • Assess patient status, communicate and document pertinent information regarding patient condition and changes in condition and prioritize patient care needs. 

  • Perform calmly and professionally during crisis or emergencies, learn new routines quickly and develop, document and provide comprehensive discharge planning and teaching for patients and families  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program) 

  • Current state of Ohio licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications 

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)  

  • Critical care background 


Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
