Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) in Employee Occupational Health (EOH) works under the supervision of the Employee Health Manager and provides clinical and administrative services across multiple clinic locations, including New Hire Assessment and regional sites. The RN is responsible for delivering occupational health services such as post-offer assessments, immunizations, surveillance testing, injury and exposure management, and return-to-work evaluations. The role includes collaboration with Human Resources, Leave Management, department leadership, pharmacy, legal, and external partners to ensure a safe, compliant, and healthy workforce. Duties include direct patient care (e.g., vital signs, injections, blood draws), documentation in PureOHS and iCare, regulatory compliance (OSHA, CDC, NIOSH), and support of employee wellness and safety initiatives. The RN also contributes to clinic operations, inventory management, and interdisciplinary coordination, and may provide coverage across sites as needed. What you will do
  • Manages Workers’ Compensation cases in collaboration with third-party administrator (TPA) claims representatives, including injury investigation, employee occurrence report (EOR) processing, return-to-work coordination, accommodation reviews (including ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act), and litigation support. Ensures timely documentation and communication with Human Resources and leadership, and any other stakeholders.
  • Conducts post-offer assessments and transfer evaluations, including drug screening, color vision testing, mask fit testing, TB screening, blood draws, vaccine administration, and review of job descriptions. Documents findings in employee health electronic medical records within 3–5 business days.
  • Provides clinical services such as immunizations, blood/body fluid exposure follow-up, medical triage, basic first aid, and follow-up for lab results. Educates employees on vaccine information and exposure protocols, Riverside resources, third party testing (when needed), and other care and services linked with employee health and workers' compensation.
  • Maintains compliance with OSHA, CMS/DNV, and internal policies. Reviews PURE dashboard for hazardous drug and COVID sign-off forms, and ensures completion of annual TB and respirator questionnaires. Participates in audits and supports keeping the clinic and breakroom areas clean and orderly.
  • Coordinates with HR, Leave Management, pharmacy, legal, and leadership to support employee health needs, including accommodations, pay/billing/reports, and risk communication.
  • Supports clinic operations including appointment scheduling, inventory management, room turnover, document scanning, and mail handling. Provides backup coverage for front desk and manager as needed.
  • Participates in departmental meetings, 1:1s with manager, orientation presentations, and ongoing education including licensure updates and competency-based learning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education
  • Program Graduate, Registered Nurse (Required) or
  • Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred) or
  • Associates Degree,  Nursing (Preferred)

Experience
  • 1 year RN Experience (Preferred)
  • 1 year Occupational Health experience (Preferred)

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) Upon Hire(Required) and
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire(Required)
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) - American Board for Occupational Health Nurses, Inc. within 3 Years(Preferred)
