Position Purpose:

At Naugatuck Valley Surgical Center, part of Saint Mary's Hospital, the RN Coordinator for the Operating Room provides advanced clinical leadership and direct patient care in surgical settings. This role combines expert perioperative nursing practice with unit coordination responsibilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality care for surgical patients.

What You Will Do:

  • Deliver intraoperative care, performing circulating and/or scrub duties while ensuring adherence to AORN standards.

  • Assist the Nurse Manager with daily operations, including staff assignments and workflow coordination.

  • Mentor and support OR nursing staff through education, orientation, and performance feedback.

  • Collaborate with the surgical team to optimize patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.

  • Valid Connecticut RN license.

  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience (circulating and scrub).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have one or more years of leadership experience in roles such as charge nurse or coordinator. This will be highly considered.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

  • Current BLS/CPR certification (AHA or Red Cross) – support provided post-hire.

  • CNOR certification (preferred, not required).

Position Highlights and Benefits:

  • Full-Time – 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday.

  • No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements.

  • Specialty pay available for experienced nurses.

  • Hourly Staff RN position; pay range: $40.05 – $70.50/hour.
