Opportunity for 1 day/week remote work
Primary office is located at the Neenah hospital.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Utilizes the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and unit-specific competencies to assess the physical condition and nursing needs of patients, and develops a plan of care in a collaborative practice with the inter-professional team.
Monitors compliance with standards of care by observation, verbal reports, audits, and written documentation, with feedback loops to department leaders, providers, and team members.
Demonstrates emotional intelligence and confidence and maintains composure during conflict. Serves with integrity and sets a positive example at all times.
Provides input and supports the department leaders in interviewing and hiring, appraisal performance, mentoring, motivating, coaching, and retention of team members.
Acts strategically, understands and can manage change, and assists team members through transitions. Advocates for stakeholders to meet strategic goals, and assists team members in understanding how their day–to-day jobs contribute to organizational strategy.
Provides feedback to peers in a constructive manner, keeps information confidential, and develops and maintains lateral, cross-boundary relationships.
Plans for the total care needs of the patient in collaboration with the inter-professional team to provide the highest quality of care and clinical outcomes.
Demonstrates clinical expertise in the clinical specialty of assigned responsibility with the ability to perform all functions of the professional clinical nurse that are age appropriate and culturally specific.
Provides consultation and maintains positive relationships with physicians and other inter-professional team members, collaborating to problem solve and improve patient care.
Collaborates on department/clinic schedules, monitors staffing levels, and provides input to the budget preparation/monitoring and the identification of workload variability to predict and plan for appropriate staffing to enhance productivity/efficiency and maintain quality care.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or commitment to obtain BSN within five years for current ThedaCare RNs
Current Wisconsin RN license
American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
Three years of clinical experience
Two years of experience leading projects, a council/committee, and/or clinical improvement work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of Fifty (50) pounds without assistance
Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
Occasional high noise level in work environment
Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
Transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment from one location to another; little likelihood for injury if proper body mechanics and procedures are followed
Occasional contact with aggressive and combative patients.
Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.
A primary focus for the role is injury prevention, root cause analysis of workers’ comp claims and injuries, with a system approach to resolution and improvement.
Analyzes employee injury data to identify risks and collaborates with interprofessional team to design and implement prevention protocols, i.e. safe patient handing, need stick reduction, etc.
Responsible for creating a robust light duty program.
Design and develop system solutions to leverage technology and other resources to create efficient processes across the system (and to “house” all vaccination data, etc)
Facilitates communication, coordination and collaboration among disciplines regarding identification, planning and provision of services for ThedaCare team members.
Works collaboratively with leadership across the organization to ensure services are delivered efficiently, are cost effective and in accordance with applicable regulatory entities and laws.
Provides day to day direction and coordination of Employee Health team.
Leads Employee Health to improve employee health and safety. Serves as a resource to other departments for employees with disabilities, health concerns, fitness for duty and other employee health concerns.
Identify areas to assist with program development, staff education and clinical and operational issues.
Maintain employee medical records and documentation, such as OSHA reports, modified duty requests and return to work information as needed.
Develops appropriate reporting on employee health data.
Coordinates and implements system wide service delivery, including but not limited to immunizations, TB screening, respirator fit testing, communicable disease and exposure management.
Partners with human resources teams to facilitate effective policy administration, including but not limited to leave of absence, accommodations, reasonable suspicion substance screening, medication misappropriation and worker’s compensation.
Administers effective workers compensation program, including timely reporting, risk reduction, return to work, etc. Leadership responsibility for vendor management.
