Job Summary:

Owns the output of a key discipline within Business Operations and typically manages a team of Operations management family roles. Ensures compliance with the organization's policies and government regulations. Directs the review of operations systems and procedures and recommends improvements to increase efficiency.  Utilizes in-depth professional knowledge and experience to set departmental goals which align with functional strategy. Focuses on achievement of departmental goals and plays a significant part in achieving functional goals.  Develop departmental plans, including business, production, operational and/or organizational priorities.  Controls resources and policy formation in area of responsibility.

What you’ll do:

• Manage and develop 1 or more Operations functions
• Manages managers that have Operations teams report to them
• Responsible for tracking and reporting of team deliverables
• Hold team accountable for production metrics, timeliness, quality and accuracy of work
• Inspire a high-performance culture through teamwork, personal development and accountability
• Develop talent - collaborate with managers on goals, seek out stretch opportunities, coach and mentor, provide timely and balanced feedback
• Own, assess, evaluate and provide recommendations on capacity resource decisions
• Recruit, interview, onboard new recruits and maintain strong talent to meet the evolving needs of our organization. Utilize performance management strategies and tasks when applicable
• Be an innovative leader; inspire and influence a culture of growth and innovative thinking
• Manage projects/committees with minimal direction from manager, influence outcomes through creativity, strong critical thinking skills and an execution orientation
• Establish credibility with UW leadership and business partners by building a strong and trusting relationship

What you need to do the job:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
• 13 – 16 years of experience in Operations, Risk Management & Underwriting, Finance or equivalent work experience preferred
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills
• Strong business acumen
• Demonstrated ability to influence
• Demonstrated passion for motivating and inspiring others to succeed
• Self-motivated and driven
• Innovative and creative mindset to drive process efficiencies for the organization
