The First Line Risk Data Analyst/Manager is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality risk reporting and analytical tools that enhance the visibility and management of risk across the organization. This individual contributor will play a pivotal role in supporting First Line Risk Leaders by creating executive-level dashboards, identifying automation opportunities, and translating complex risk data into actionable insights.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in risk management principles combined with advanced data visualization and analytical skills. This role requires strategic thinking, exceptional attention to detail, and a proactive approach to improving risk oversight through innovation and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance executive-level risk dashboards and reports to support strategic decision-making across the First Line Risk organization.

  • Partner with risk leaders to identify key metrics and risk indicators (KRIs, KPIs) and ensure consistency in reporting across business lines.

  • Design and implement automated reporting solutions leveraging data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.

  • Perform data validation and quality assurance to ensure accuracy and completeness of reported information.

  • Develop and maintain data models, queries, and workflows to support advanced analytics and scenario assessments.

Automation & Process Optimization

  • Identify opportunities to streamline manual reporting processes through automation using scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL,VBA).

  • Design, pilot, and implement automation solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce operational risk.

  • Collaborate with technology and data governance teams to integrate automated solutions within approved data and reporting environments.

Risk Partnership & Support

  • Support First Line Risk leaders in monitoring key risk areas such as operational risk, compliance, controls testing, and issue management.

  • Assist in the design and monitoring of control frameworks, including trend analysis and early risk detection.

  • Translate data and analytics into concise executive summaries and visual storytelling for leadership and governance committees.

  • Act as a subject matter expert for risk reporting standards, data lineage, and metric definitions within the First Line.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure that all reporting and automation processes comply with internal data governance and risk management standards.

  • Participate in risk assessments, control evaluations, and remediation activities as required.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve reporting methodologies to ensure alignment with industry best practices and evolving risk frameworks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related field of specialty.

  • Minimum of 8 or more years of audit, operational risk or other risk management experience or other proven related business experience.

  • Good understanding of risk management and internal control leading practices within specialized area of focus.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex, highly regulated environment.

  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements within specific area of focus.

  • Effective communication, organization and presentation skills.

  • Effective influence management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of COSO’s Internal Control – Integrated Framework, or similar

  • Certification in risk management

  • First line of defense risk management experience.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The base pay scale for this position in:
Phoenix, AZ in USD per year is: $104,000 - $130,000.
New York, NY in USD per year is: $125,000 - $156,000.
Additionally, candidates are eligible for a discretionary incentive plan and benefits.
