Dow Jones Risk Journal is seeking an experienced reporter to cover global risk, compliance and regulatory issues affecting companies and financial institutions.
The position calls for a multi-talented journalist who possesses an understanding of – or eagerness to delve into – regulatory areas such as sanctions, export controls, anti-corruption and financial crime, as well as geopolitical, cybersecurity, climate and supply-chain risks.
The reporter will be responsible for writing daily stories and longer features, as well as contributing to the daily WSJ Morning Risk Report newsletter. Dow Jones Risk Journal serves an audience of risk, compliance and legal professionals as well as executives throughout businesses who are responsible for assessing and mitigating risks.
The successful candidate will be able to develop sources, especially among risk and compliance professionals, regulators and policy makers; break news; report on and analyze news events; develop high-impact enterprise stories; and explain technical concepts.
This reporter must have a keen understanding of the needs of business and financial professionals, and be capable of publishing top-quality content that informs readers, puts news developments into context and provides actionable analysis.
This reporter should approach journalism from the perspective of ensuring it can help readers in their day-to-day work. This should include practical takeaways that can be applied by risk and compliance professionals to enhance their policies, programs or strategic discussions.
The candidate must be a self-starter and comfortable with occasional additional duties such as moderating live journalism interviews and making media appearances. The candidate also should have an eye toward how to use visuals and data, when appropriate, to enhance storytelling.

You have:
5+ years of reporting experience
The skills and instincts to jump on news, writing quickly and cleanly
The flexibility to take on a range of topics across a broad geography
Relevant subject matter expertise and an eagerness to learn
A track record of dominating a beat, setting the agenda and informing readers
A demonstrated ability to report out high-impact stories
