AIG is currently looking for a Senior Property Account Engineer/Field engineer to join our Nordic Property organization as well as EMEA Engineering organization. The position will be based at our office in Stockholm and report into our Risk Engineering Manager.

Our European Property Engineering organization consist of 25 engineers with 2 positions placed in the Nordic region.

The role of a Risk Engineer is critical to what we do at AIG, both as a risk management resource to our clients and as a leading global insurance organization. Risk Engineers are responsible for working with clients to identify and mitigate risks to their business such as fire, flood, windstorm, equipment breakdown etc. 

Account Engineers (AE) form an integral part of the UW process and where AEs are the focal point of all Engineering activities. The primary focus for AE team is to service the accounts for our UWs and support them on risk selection and portfolio management for the larger Nordic clients.

External Client Engagement include RI follow ups and annual meetings. Field engineering mostly pertain to performing surveys to large Nordic clients but also surveys for accounts which are written by other AIG offices globally.

 

Selection of Key Responsibilities

  • Perform property loss prevention reviews of commercial property accounts

  • Document the review results in a data-driven application

  • Conduct periodic client service meetings with underwriting, broker and client

  • Analyse and manage risk improvements of an account and work with the client to prioritize and implement them

  • Translate client needs and loss prevention strategies into a client service plan

  • Estimate of the cost of engineering services

  • Conduct quality reviews of completed account reviews and reviews of field survey reports

  • Conduct property loss prevention surveys at key facilities of a client

    • Identify occupancy hazards and assess the adequacy of their protection features

    • Identify and assess the impact of external exposures on a facility

    • Determine fire and natural catastrophe loss estimates for a facility

  • Conduct consultative visits at customer facilities and plan reviews

 

Position requirements

Requirements:

  • Few years property risk engineering experience (field risk engineering or account engineering)

  • University degree in engineering

  • Broad knowledge in Risk Property controls and experience in performing field risk surveys of commercial and light hazard industrial occupancies.  

  • Possess relationship management and strong interpersonal skills

  • Fluent in Swedish and English.

 

Preferred:

  • Other Nordic language skills are preferred, such as Finnish or Danish.

  • Excellent presentation and excel skills

 Soft Skills:

  • Highly motivated and works well without close supervision.

  • The individual must be able to make decisions with and without established guidelines and to provide technical support to underwriters and clients.   

  • Ability to work closely with various Account Teams including Account Engineers and Underwriters 

  • Ability to complete assignments on-time. 

 

 Hard Skills:

  • Professional Engineer or Certified Fire Protection Specialist Designation (desired but not required). 

  • Ability to perform inspections of buildings and other structures, both visually and with instruments 

  • Ability to read construction drawings, diagrams, printed materials
