R&I Project Manager

Contributes to BG/PG/PL Open Innovation activities: 

• Be actor in the projects selection process: ensure technological watch, detect future key technologies and perform preliminary assessment of identified opportunities for innovation 

• Deal with partners: Identifies and selects the best partners (start-ups, academics, laboratories, technology providers), sets collaborative development schema jointly with legal and IP department an provides support to technology scouting activities

• Assess the technology level of the partners, start-ups.

Manages and supports Collaborative activities/projects:

• Manages various R&I projects(P3):

• • Defines the project’s objectives and targets

  • Animates creativity meetings to provide solutions to the identified problems and needs.

  • Contributes to users groups to identify impact of user expectations on the R&I strategy

  • Defines the best tools/process/method to achieve efficiently the objectives (creativity tools, mock-ups, design thinking cycles, rapid prototyping, proof of concept, lab car…)

  • Assesses the requirements (resources, competences, …)

  • Validates project’s milestones with team members

• Validates the achievement of the project’s objectives (deliverables) & Capitalize the projects outcomes 

• Ensures Intellectual Property (IP) protection of the innovative ideas (protection and mining)

• Organizes and ensures smooth and effective transfer to business when decided (to P3 or P2)

Leads Project Team 

• Allocate “work-packages” among team members

• Functionally manages project team members: internal or external

• Encourages initiatives and motivates risk taking, and failures acceptance when needed

Develops Customers Intimacy regarding innovation activities 

• Communicates to external and internal (BG/PG/PL) customers

• Collects customer voices from their innovation teams to understand future needs and to feed the innovation pipeline, and also by participating in external events (conferences, seminars, exhibits…)

• Involve the PL and the Platform which will transform the R&I activities to R&D

Promotes Valeo Values, Cultures and Standards (Product, Methodology and Tools)

• Ensure Open innovation activities are performed in compliance with standard and activities defined in Research and Innovations Procedures
