This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: The Madison Club, set outside of La Quinta, CA.
The Madison Club is seeking a Retail Lead to join the Retail Department.
The Rhoze Retail Lead is responsible for driving excellence in customer service while overseeing daily shop operations, staff oversight and training, and visual merchandising. This role serves as a vital liaison to the Retail Manager by monitoring sell-through, reporting customer feedback, and supporting high-revenue initiatives such as trunk shows and personal shopping experiences.
In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.
Assigned Duties:
Merchandising and Customer Service:
- Build and maintain rapport with members and guests; provide expert styling advice based on regional fashion trends and brand knowledge.
- Collaborate with the Retail Manager to monitor and drive sales to meet monthly revenue budgets through proactive floor rotations, receipt flow management, and scheduled retail events and trunk shows.
- Oversee all POS transactions, including markdowns and employee discounts, ensuring strict adherence to company procedures.
- Uphold premium packaging standards, incorporating personalized touches such as gift-wrap and handwritten thank-you notes.
Inventory Control:
- Support the Retail Manager with monthly physical inventory counts.
- Actively monitor and manage inventory shrink for both retail and swag merchandise.
- Monitor bestsellers and core stock items regularly and communicate fill-in needs to Retail Manager.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist the General Manager and Retail Manager with special requests and VIP swag orders.
- Maintain inventory for all retail essentials, including tagging supplies, office supplies and premium packaging.
- Establish and enforce clear protocols for employee purchases.
Retail Lead Skills and Qualifications:
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
- 1–3 years of experience in retail operations and high-end customer service.
- Basic understanding of boutique, and specialty retail, specifically within hospitality or private club environments.
- Competency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel for inventory tracking and reporting.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and sell in a luxury setting.

- Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
- Ability to work Weekends, Holidays, Music Festival Month
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
Benefits
- The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $22-$24 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
