The Returns Clerk role is primarily responsible for verifying and processing returned merchandise efficiently and accurately, maintaining accurate records, resolving discrepancies, and supporting operational efficiency within the Returns department. You are a detail-oriented problem solver committed to minimizing losses, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
A Day in the Life:
The typical day is… atypical. You may…
Verify returned items against Return Advanced Shipping Notice (RASN) and record relevant information in the warehouse management system (WMS)
Upload WS documents upon completing Return Advanced Shipping Notice (RASN) cases when no additional cases are available
Respond to internal/external emails within 48 hours (24 hours during low work volume), seeking support from supervisor/manager, as needed
Follow up on unresolved emails within three business days, escalating unresolved issues to supervisor/manager
Print labels and price tickets/hangtags, ASN worksheets, and verify items as required
Perform daily Cubi scan tasks and complete them by the end of each shift
Close out damage totes used for processing "ghost" returns per CS email daily
Assist with clearing the Error Cart daily and fully clear it weekly
Log errors on the Error Log sheet
Manage and log warehouse inquiries, adding details, dates, and initials, following up on inquiries older than two weeks with the Supervisor
Receive, inspect, and process customer, retail, and wholesale store returns according to SOP's
Assess the condition of returned products, determining if items can be restocked, refurbished, or sent to clearance/damage processing
Work with quality and inventory control teams to ensure proper disposition of returned goods
Coordinate with leadership as well as client services and business teams to resolve return discrepancies or missing information
Assist in claims processing for damaged or defective merchandise, by taking pictures, documenting information, etc.
Support loss prevention efforts by identifying trends in fraudulent or excessive returns
Maintain and communicate inventory supply needs (e.g., paper, tape) to supervisor
Support the maintenance of an organized returns area, following safety and compliance guidelines
Complete other duties, as assigned
To Land This Role:
High School Diploma or GED
1.5+ years of related experience in a distribution environment
Experience utilizing various types of warehouse equipment and systems
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must have English proficiency (speaking and understanding)
Basic math skills are required to understand location quantities, thresholds and capacity
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills for investigating and solutioning issues and/or discrepancies
Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships
Able to lift items up to 35 lbs
Able to actively walk the warehouse floor; and stand for extended periods up to 12 hours
Must be willing to work overtime as needed, including weekends and holidays
