The Retirement Plan Advisor is responsible for acquiring, advising, and servicing employer-sponsored retirement plans, including 401(k), 403(b), and other qualified plans. This role partners with plan sponsors to design, manage, and optimize retirement plans that meet fiduciary standards, regulatory requirements, and participant needs. The advisor acts as a trusted consultant to employers and plan participants, delivering strategic guidance, education, and investment oversight.Job Responsibilities:
Advisory & Fiduciary Support Plan
Serve as the primary advisor to plan sponsors on plan design, investments, fees, and governance.
Provide fiduciary guidance under ERISA, including support for 3(21) and/or 3(38) services (as applicable).
Conduct regular plan reviews, benchmarking, and investment performance analysis.
Assist clients with plan changes, vendor transitions, and ongoing plan optimization.
Establish governance frameworks and operational controls to safeguard client assets and maintain regulatory compliance.
Serve as a key advisor to senior management on operational risk, efficiency, and scalability.
Client Relationship Management
Build and maintain long-term relationships with plan sponsors, HR leaders, and committees.
Lead and document investment committee meetings and fiduciary reviews.
Coordinate with recordkeepers, TPAs, custodians, and internal partners.
Respond to client inquiries and proactively identify opportunities to enhance plan outcomes.
Implement best practices for operational resilience and business continuity planning.
Business Development
Identify and pursue new retirement plan opportunities through referrals, centers of influence, and internal partnerships.
Support prospect meetings, proposals, and finalist presentations.
Collaborate with wealth management, private banking, and institutional teams to expand client relationships.
Participant Education & Engagement
Deliver group and one-on-one participant education on retirement readiness, investment options, and financial wellness.
Support enrollment meetings, re-enrollment initiatives, and planning communication strategies.
Assist participants with rollovers, distributions, and retirement planning coordination (as permitted).
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure plans remain compliant with ERISA, DOL regulations, and internal risk standards.
Maintain accurate documentation, meeting minutes, and client records.
Partner with compliance and legal teams to support audits and regulatory inquiries.
ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Perform special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance training. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications:
Education level: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent) in Finance, Business, Economics preferred
Minimum experience required: 8+ Years advising employer-sponsored retirement plans.
Securities licenses (Series 7 and 66 or 65), or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional designations such as AIF®, CPFA®, CFP®, or CFA®
Experience with institutional consulting or retirement platforms
Proven success in client acquisition and relationship management
Familiarity with major recordkeepers and plan service providers
