Dentsu is looking for a Retail Media Manager to join our growing Commerce team. This role is perfect for someone who lives at the intersection of media, eCom, data and retail.
As a Retail Media Manager, you will be responsible for activating, optimising best-in class retail media campaigns, while shaping the broader retail media strategy for key clients. This includes full-funnel thinking, data-driven optimisation, cross-channel collaboration whilst building strong client relationships.
You'll also work closely with cross-functional teams to build integrated commerce strategies and present insights, following the client-facing and analytical expectations.
Job Description:
Key responsibilities:
1. Campaign Activation & Optimisation
- Lead and optimise campaigns across retail media platforms (E,g. Takealot Sponsored Ads, Amazon Ads, Sixty60 Sponsored Search, PNP Sponsored Search) aligned to performance best practices
- Manage full-funnel retail media campaigns including, sponsored search and display + managed campaign briefs with retailers for campaign execution
- Continuously monitor performance, using insights, data trends and competitive analysis
- Implement A/B tests, learning agendas and optimisation roadmaps
2. Client Leadership & Strategy Development
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while leading day-to-day communication with retailers/partners
- Develop retail media strategies aligned with business objectives, category context and shopper intent
- Deliver strategic recommendations based on data, platform insights, and market trends
- Support quarterly business reviews, strategy resets, and campaign planning cycles
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with media team to build integrated omni-channel strategies which aligns with client commerce strategy
- Coordinate with client brand teams, retailer media teams, and external partners to deliver unified execution
4. Reporting, Analytics & Insights
- Data cleaning and monthly reporting across managed and self-service Retail Media channels
- Identify growth opportunities through market, category and competitive analysis
5. Governance, Process & Best Practice
- Support the development of Dentsu Retail Media team with upskilling junior members on best practice platform optimisations
- Stakeholder relationship management across clients, media teams and retailers
Required Experience & Skills
Experience
- 2-4 years hands-on experience in retail media, performance media, eCommerce, programmatic, or digital marketing
- Experience managing onsite campaigns (self-service and managed) on platforms such as Amazon Ads, Takealot Ads, Criteo, Citrus, or similar digital activation platforms
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and turn insights into action
- Bonus if you have experience in FMCG/CPG vertical
Skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present strategies and insights to clients
- Strong understanding of paid media, onsite & offsite retail media buying, eCom fundamentals and digital marketing measurement
- Excellent foundation of the South African Commerce landscape and the RMN network understanding
- Proficiency in Excel/Sheets, data dashboards and retail analytics tools
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- Detail-orientated, organised, and comfortable working with large datasets
