DEPARTMENTAL SUMMARY: The St Charles Health System Pharmacy provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient pharmaceutical care services to ensure safe and effective medication use.  

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Pharmacy Retail Clerk provides non-prescription data entry, office, cashier/sales, and OTC stocking support to the retail pharmacy department. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service. 

This position does not manage any other caregivers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

Responsible for maintaining correct information in the Pharmacy Management System.

Accurately and efficiently rings customers up for purchase.

Responsible for accurate cash handling and daily drawer reconciliation.

Provides support in the areas of cashiering and sales.

Responsible for alphabetically filing ready to dispense prescriptions.

Checks in daily drug order, prices drugs, and places OTC drugs on pharmacy shelves.

Responsible for pulling outdated drugs from pharmacy shelves.

Assists in quarterly physical inventory.

Accepts drop-off prescriptions and collects needed demographics and insurance information.

Files prescription hard copies daily and prepares for permanent storage.

Assists in OTC department including ordering, stocking shelves, working with planograms to periodically update merchandise mix, and keeping shelves organized and clean.

Preferred: One year of customer experience. Previous Retail experience. Previous healthcare experience.

Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.
