The Resource Manager will support the business line leaders in making staffing decisions that serve the client, support employee career goals, and drive utilization towards financial targets. The Resource Manager will review under-utilized billable employees and work with business line leaders and practice teams to deploy these individuals on Nordic engagements.
The Resource Manager will have the following key responsibilities which include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitating the deployment of current salaried Nordic employees to ensure utilization remains strategically aligned with organizational goals
- Support Director of Resource Management to establish an enterprise-wide framework for managing the deployment of salaried billable employees’ and implement this framework across the organization.
- Champion the utilization management program at Nordic by developing standard procedures, processes, and materials to be implemented within the assigned business line.
- Supporting business line leaders in ensuring that their team members are fully utilized, including providing information and making staffing recommendations
- Proactively identifying salaried resources who will become available in the short term (i.e. next 2-3 weeks)
- Assisting with the creation and sharing of reporting including utilization performance, forecasts, variance analysis, and capacity management analytics
- Analyzing data from standard reporting processes to develop specialized reports on resource needs, forecasted utilization, upcoming availability, and scheduling conflicts. Present in leadership and team meetings on historic utilization, trends, and upcoming situations that need resolution.
- Reviewing and recommending modifications to internal processes as needed for project control, operations review and business support
- Conduct research to identify alternate staffing solutions and/or alternate processes for improvement
- Monitor sales pipeline to ensure staffing plans are in place for high-odds pursuits likely to close in the near term.
- Collaborate with Talent team and hiring managers when onboarding new hires to the organization to ensure staffing plans are in place to support the strategic vision of the organization. Ensure internal onboarding procedures are followed to support new members as they acclimate to Nordic.
- Develop knowledge of skills, experiences, and career goals of the professionals in the assigned business line in order to factor that into staffing decisions. Make recommendations to people manager or leadership as needed to foster skill development in order to better meet client demand or to align the professional with the right growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Resource Management team in order to identify the right person for the right role at the right time. Forecast current and upcoming resources to support a cross-team staffing strategy.
- Involvement in ad hoc projects as required (task forces, reporting, process improvement committees, training manuals, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required,
- 2-3 years of experience in resource management, staffing, or related field; consulting experience preferred
- Ability to organize, analyze, and prioritize
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills to an executive audience
- Exhibits business acumen, including a basic understanding of financial metrics
- Must be able to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, especially Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Microsoft PowerBI preferred
- Familiarity with the following tools helpful: customer relationship management (CRM), professional services automation (PSA), or resource management system
- Customer service mindset, comfortable negotiating between competing priorities. Flexible in adapting to frequently changing priorities
- Relocation to Madison, WI, is not required, however, occasional trips to the Nordic Home Office will be expected
- Travel up to 10% of the time
