The Opportunity:

As a Resource Management Librarian, you will be overseeing the acquisition, organization, and maintenance of library resources to ensure they meet the

needs of the academic community. This role involves managing budgets, negotiating with vendors, cataloging materials, and ensuring the effective use

of library resources. The Resource Management Librarian collaborates with faculty, students, and other library staff to support the institution's academic

and research missions.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess current collection needs based on user demand, curriculum changes, and emerging trends. 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and relevance of existing collections. 
  • Recommend new materials (books, journals, databases, multimedia) in alignment with the library’s collection development policy. 
  • Identify and remove outdated, damaged, or underutilized materials from the collection. 
  • Ensure the collection remains current and relevant. 
  • Catalog new acquisitions according to established standards. 
  • Ensure correct and consistent metadata for all library resources. 
  • Ensure resources are discoverable through library catalogs and search engines. 
  • Apply proper classification systems (e.g., Dewey Decimal, Library of Congress) to organize materials. 
  • Implement and maintain wayfinding systems within the library. 
  • Provide instruction and guidance on how to access and use library resources effectively. 
  • Develop and update policies and procedures related to resource management. 
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in resource management. 
  • Implement innovative practices to enhance resource accessibility and usability. 

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Secret Security Clearance. 
  • Master’s degree of Library Science or Library and Information Science.
  • Experience with various classification systems including but not limited to the Library of Congress classification, Dewey Decimal, and Subject Cataloging.
  • Experience with cataloging principles, including MARC and RDA. 
  • Strong knowledge of cataloging standards and metadata practices.

Desired: 

  • Advanced degree in a relevant academic discipline.
  • Certification from professional library associations. 
  • Proficiency in library management systems and electronic resource management tools.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$70,100 - $147,400
