Office of Strategic Enrollment Management

Exempt, Contingent II, Full-Time, Grade 1.3

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks a Residency Coordinator in the Office of Strategic Enrollment Management. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Residency, the Residency Coordinator will develop new business processes and new communications to improve the functionality of the residency department.   

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Correspond with students by phone, in person, and by e-mail regarding residency issues

  • Research complex residency issues and consult with the Assistant Director of Residency regarding resolution of those issues

  • Handle student escalations

  • Serve as a liaison with other units that serve students

  • Manage residency petition processing, including receiving incoming petitions, reviewing petitions and supporting documentation and approving or denying requests

  • Assist with residency data cleanup processes

  • Assist with training new and existing staff on residency policies and procedures

  • Conduct quality assurance processes to review residency classification decisions

  • Assist with managing special projects to implement new residency policies and procedures

  • Perform other job related duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning

  • The successful candidate will have two (2) years of relevant work experience, preferably in higher education, using a student information system, a document management system, and a customer relationship management system

  • Excellent customer service skills are required

  • The ability to communicate calmly, effectively, and professionally is required. Excellent written communication skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to quickly analyze and resolve issues are required

  • The ability to handle a high volume of tasks with close attention to detail is also required

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with PeopleSoft and Salesforce is preferred

  • Previous experience with residency policies and procedures in a higher education institution is also preferred

  • Knowledge of student information systems and databases and experience using a document management system and/or customer relationship management database

Contingent II employees who work on average 30 or more hours per week (130 hours per month) are eligible for subsidized state of Maryland medical and prescription benefits. Contingent II employees who work on average less than 30 hours per week but at least 20 hours per week are eligible for a stipend to assist in the purchase of a health plan.

  • Insurance Options: Term Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance, and Long-Term Disability (LTD) Insurance. NOTE: C2 Part-time employees working less than 0.5 FTE are not eligible for LTD.

  • Retirement Stipend:  Contingent II employees receive a retirement stipend equal to 7.25 percent of their base salary and are eligible to contribute to a supplemental retirement account (SRA).

  • Supplemental Retirement Plans: include 401(k), 403(b), 457(b), and various Roth options. The university does not provide subsidies or matching funds.

  • Tuition Remission:  CII employees are eligible immediately for Tuition Remission at UMGC or at University of Maryland College Park.  Spouses and dependent children are eligible for undergraduate tuition remission after two years of service. NOTE: For part-time employees (at least 50 percent of the time), tuition remission benefits are prorated.
