As a Research Technologist, you will participate in the design, organization, and execution of daily research project activities, supporting study objectives through established laboratory techniques, accurate data collection, and efficient workflow. In this role, you will support epilepsy research with responsibilities that include animal interaction and the processing of human samples. You will maintain the laboratory environment by managing chemicals and biohazard materials, ensuring proper documentation, and assisting with required inspections to uphold safety and compliance standards.


A caregiver in this role works days from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Participate in daily research project activities. 

  • Plan, organize, perform and monitor daily project protocols.  

  • Collect, prepare and maintain required research documentation, including informed consent records, case records, clinical notes and medical reports.  

  • Report and assist with managing protocol deviations, adverse events and other project-related issues.  

  • Be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of the lab.  

  • Order and purchase supplies, gather information on new equipment and recommend purchases.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • High School Diploma or GED and four years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment

  • OR Associate's degree in laboratory science and three years of experience

  • OR Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience

  • OR Master’s degree and one year of experience 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Comfortable handling small animals in an academic research setting

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

  • Ability to distinguish color

  • Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment

  • Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20  pounds

  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
