Here’s a Glimpse of the Job

Texas A&M’s Biology Department is looking for a Research Technician, who under general supervision performs entry‑level, semi‑skilled technical research support involving routine tasks. This position will assist with ongoing and expanding research projects involving gene‑edited cavefish and Drosophila.

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Assembles, operates, and maintains laboratory and technical equipment, including updating laboratory computers and providing logistical support with computer systems.

  • Maintains laboratory spaces in compliance with OSHA standards, performs routine clean‑up of labs and prep rooms, and manages inventory by ordering necessary parts and supplies.

  • Assists senior staff with major field experiments and contributes to developing procedures as needed.

  • Supports the research participant pool by recruiting, screening, and maintaining participant records, and assists undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects.

  • Participates in training and professional development sessions as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience.

  • Ability to lift and/or move medium weight objects.

A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
