The Research Technician assists laboratory personnel and research staff in the execution and coordination of research activities within the Mood and Personality Studies Lab. This position supports ongoing research focused on kindness, social connection, and well-being by coordinating study activities, managing participant data, and assisting with data collection and analysis under the guidance of senior research staff.
The Research Technician applies established protocols and procedures, supports Institutional Review Board (IRB) processes, and contributes to research documentation and dissemination efforts. This role also supports community outreach initiatives in collaboration with the Columbus Foundation Center for HumanKindness. The position performs research tasks under general supervision, exercises judgment within defined guidelines, and supports efficient research operations through organization and collaboration.

Required Qualifications
At least one (1) year of relevant experience supporting research with human participants, laboratory, or project-based work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Basic knowledge of research processes, including participant-based research and data management practices.
Ability to follow established procedures and protocols with attention to detail.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and technological skills; experience with data collection tools or survey software is a plus.
Ability to recognize and resolve routine issues using established guidelines, with guidance from a supervisor when needed.
The pay range for this job profile is $15.86 - $20.74. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.

The Department of Psychology is a central department on campus, with the third largest undergraduate major at OSU, almost 140 graduate students, and approximately 50 tenure-stream faculty. Our department aims to produce exceptional, innovative research to advance knowledge about mind, brain, and behavior, with the goal of understanding and improving the human condition.
