The Yuan Lab studies retinal injury and regeneration, aiming to understand why mammals lose the ability to repair retinal damage while species like fish can regenerate retinal tissue. The lab investigates wound healing and regenerative responses in the retina, focusing on laser-induced injury models in teleost fish. Their work explores molecular pathways that may be altered or absent in mammals, with the goal of identifying targets that could enable retinal regeneration or improve integration of transplanted retinal cells to restore vision after damage. As a Research Technician on our team, you will perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for assigned experimental studies, assist with establishing and scheduling analyses, conduct tests using a range of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, and assemble experimental results for review by research staff.
