What we want  

The Research Technician I, under general supervision performs entry level, semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of routine tasks. Maintains laboratory operations involving preparation of glassware, laboratory equipment maintenance, maintaining research supplies.

What you need to know

Salary: $17.30/hourly

Schedule: Part-time / This position is not benefits eligible.

Location: Houston, Texas

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in English. 

  • Able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal Instructions.

  • Ability to perform independent research.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities:

Research Technical Support

  •  Assembles and operates technical equipment.

  • Collect and compiles data.

  • Maintains laboratory inventory, including ordering and cataloging of laboratory supplies

  • Maintains laboratory equipment, including safety equipment and supplies

Research Procedure Support

  • Assist with preparation of materials to be used in research

  • Collects samples and measurement data from experiments. Implements and maintains data collection and summarization of study results.

  • Assist senior staff members in conducting laboratory and animal experiments

  • Dispose of laboratory waste according to laboratory and university requirements

  • Assists with animal experiments, when needed

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Training

  • Participates in training and professional development sessions as needed.
