The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Department of Research, has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Research Support Specialist in Miami, Florida. The Research Support Specialist performs a variety of duties involved in the collection, compilation, and documentation of research data related to the assigned research studies. The incumbent also assists with the implementation of daily study activities and provides statistical support to these activities.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
* Researches, collects, analyzes, and synthesizes data and maintains databases.
* Conducts quality assurance checks, reports on the status of research activities, and submits monthly activity logs for protocol
* Organizes and coordinates community working group meetings for protocol activities.
* Serves as primary point of contact for community partners and supervises and oversees research data collection at protocol venues in the community.
* Reviews study progress, identifies areas of opportunity, and recommends solutions.
* Prepares and updates study research procedures manuals.
* Assists with the preparation of grant proposals by processing regulatory documents for all institutions and offices involved.
* Contributes to the publication and presentation of significant results and writes and edits material for publication and presentation.
* Maintains research files and responds to phone calls on the research study phone line.
*Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
1 Primary Recruitment Support
• Assist with patient recruitment for multiple ongoing Glaucoma clinical studies.
• Identify potential study candidates through clinic schedules, referrals, and study databases.
2 Study Education & Communication
• Clearly explain all study-related details to patients, including purpose, procedures, time commitments, risks, and benefits.
• Answer patient questions in a professional, empathetic, and compliant manner.
3 Outreach & Scheduling
• Conduct initial outreach calls, follow-up calls, and reminder calls to potential and enrolled participants.
• Schedule screening and study visits in coordination with clinic and research staff.
4 Tracking & Documentation
• Maintain accurate records of contacted patients, enrolled subjects, and recruitment status.
• Track recruitment metrics, enrollment goals, and participant retention over time.
• Update study logs and databases in compliance with protocol and regulatory requirements.
5 Clinic Support & Referrals
• Assist in-clinic when needed to introduce studies to newly referred or eligible patients.
• Collaborate with physicians, coordinators, and clinic staff to support recruitment efforts.
6 Retention & Follow-Up
• Support participant retention by maintaining regular communication and addressing concerns.
• Ensure participants are informed of upcoming visits and study requirements.
7 Compliance & Professionalism
• Follow all study protocols, privacy regulations and institutional guidelines.
• Maintain a professional and patient-centered approach in all interactions.
• Bilingual English Spanish preferred
