The Research Senior Technician in the School of Earth Sciences provides advanced research support by conducting research and analysis and supporting broader research projects. This Research Senior Technician will interpret seismic data and well logs and couple this information with measurements on core from the Gulf of Mexico Genesis of Methane Project (GOM2-02). The Research Senior Technician will use SLB software Petrel and Techlog. The Research Senior Technician works with a high level of autonomy on routine work, applies established procedures and precedent to resolve issues, and may provide guidance or training to less experienced colleagues.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences or equivalent experience.
Required Qualifications
· Relevant experience as demonstrated by one of the following:
o No prior experience required with a Bachelor’s degree
o Two (2) years of relevant experience with an Associate’s degree
o Four (4) years of relevant experience with a High School diploma
· Broad knowledge of standard research processes, tools, and methodologies, typically gained through on-the-job experience, training, certification, or a degree.
· Ability to independently complete routine research tasks.
· Ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve routine research-related issues using established procedures and precedent, with guidance from a supervisor when needed.
· Ability to evaluate and select appropriate solutions for less frequent or unusual issues; escalates complex matters as appropriate.
· Ability to assist with basic data analysis, research documentation, and preparation of reports or manuscripts.
Desired
· Experience using Petrel, Techlog, and MATLAB to synthesize, analyze, and integrate geophysical and geological datasets.
The pay range for this job profile is $19.28 - $25.19. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
