The Research Senior Technician (RST) will work on nanopore-based single-molecule sensor development projects. The RST would also assist with the setup, maintenance, and operation of the Nanoscale Sensing and Transport laboratory in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (located in the McPherson Building) under the supervision of Dr. Nuwan Bandara. The RST will also be responsible for (i) managing and maintaining laboratory equipment, (ii) maintaining stock reagents and solutions, ordering supplies and equipment, (iii) consolidating the analysis of research results, evaluating the validity of data obtained from experimental procedures, (iv) summarizing data for inclusion in grant proposals, and manuscripts, (v) preparation of research progress reports, (vi) assisting and supporting other laboratory members and students and, (vii) performing administrative tasks including coordinating lab safety inspections. RST would also perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree (in biological science, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or equivalent) or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree. Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic or practical knowledge to research required. Ability to work with other researchers and communicate clearly in a group setting.
Desired: Experience in nanoparticle synthesis, lateral-flow assay development, surface functionalization experience, and diagnostic system development.
The pay range for this job profile is $19.28 to $25.19 hourly. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
