Research Project Manager – Hospital discharge medicine handover

About This Opportunity  

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Research Project Manager to join our world-class School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences to manage the successful delivery of a major project entitled Optimising medicine information handover after discharge: a stepped-wedge cluster randomised trial.

This project involves the implementation of a multifaceted intervention to streamline medicine information handover during transition of care from hospital to primary care clinicians, specifically general practitioners and community pharmacists. As the Research Project Manager, you will work closely with Chief Investigators to manage, coordinate and conduct research, essentially playing a pivotal role in the implementation and ongoing management of this project.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Technical & Communication: Conduct data collection in hospital and primary care settings; prepare and deliver high-quality presentations for academic, clinical, and community audiences.

  • Project & Research Management: Collaborate with Chief Investigators, industry personnel and other stakeholders; coordinate resources; oversee project implementation, contracts, grants, quality assurance, and systems improvement.

  • Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets and financial reporting in line with the Research Project Plan.

  • Governance & Safety: Support research administration (ethics, compliance, conflicts of interest); and foster a proactive safety culture with continuous improvement.

About You

Our ideal candidate will possess extensive experience and expertise in project management in addition to: 

  • A Bachelor’s qualification in health or business.

  • Demonstrated capacity to develop, manage and coordinate research projects in a multidisciplinary environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with industry personnel and other stakeholders at a senior level.

  • Proven ability to manage, lead and develop staff within a research team environment.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with demonstrated ability to understand and present complex content in a clear and concise manner.

  • Self-motivation with demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • A commitment to upholding the highest standard of research integrity, ethics and workplace health and safety.

  • would be advantageous.

  • Experience in research in the area of Pharmacy Practice would be highly regarded as would experience in the transition of care within the Australian healthcare system when patients are discharged from hospital.

Appointment to this role is subject to the successful completion of relevant pre-employment checks including verification of the right to work in Australia (employer-sponsored work rights are not available for these appointments), a criminal history check and mandatory immunisations. This may also include checks relating to gender-based violence matters or other integrity and conduct requirements.
